Talking DirecTV and moving files between DVR's

I was told by my directv installer (and I have 3 HR-22's, 2 HR-21's and one of the old tivo hd dvr's) that there was a program/app available under linux to move files between DVR's.

Understand I am in no way trying to violate DRM's...I have paid for this content and am just trying to find a simpler solution to watch progamming I have paid for on seperate HR-21 and 22's without having to physically move boxes between rooms.

    My config is such:

cable modem attatched to one HR-22 via CAT-6 through Buffalo airstation wireless G router with 4 hard wired ports that connect to my PC and HR-22's. I use the airstation to connect with my PS3 through wireless networking and employ WEP encyption. I am currently running the DirecTv2pc s/w but because I am only running a P4 and do not have a "dual core VIIV processor" my HR-22 see's my media server/PC but will not pull files the other way. I only am running 1 PC as described, I am not trying to do this with a laptop.

can anyone help or give advise regarding this issue?

Some newer units have activated com ports on the rear panel, Some have unactivated ports, and some have no ports at all.

Ask your provider if you can get receivers with activated ports. Mine were not, and there were none available, so I opened it up and downloaded all my vids to my PC. Then I could move them around.

The files you want to transfer are the .tsp format, partition 2.

Don't do it with Windows; Windows writes a signature to the receiver's drive. Lots of info at videohelp.com forums.
