    Unhappy [SOLVED] Update Manager not Working


    Whilst updating the Ubuntu 8.10, the UPDATE MANAGER shows the following error:

    E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
    E: _cache->open() failed, please report

    Being a newbie I have no clue as to what does that mean. Presntly i am unable to update my system.
    Somebody HELP!!!! Please

    run 'dpkg --configure -a' in terminal as root and your problem is solved

    Hi and Welcome !

    Make sure to use sudo with dpkg.
    Code:
    sudo dpkg --configure -a
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
