    Sound weak in Ubuntu 8.10

Managed to get things going on this Linux installation, even Skype.

    BUT.........

Tthe sound is very weak when I tried a music CD, & this ofcource will not do when using Skype.

How to get it louder to hear it, the sliders are all at MAX.

Also the Skype seems bare compared to the windows one I use. The is no menu for sending files etc, nor facility to use the web cam.

    Thanx, ........nick

It's possible the wrong audio driver is being used, hard to say at this point with the lack of audio related information.

Check your mixer for an "External Amplifier" option.

If you are using the openSUSE ..then

Open Yast >sound option. Then increase every front the volume bar till 100 %.

    This will solve your problem...
