I've given up
Hello all, it's been a long time I haven't got the time to post up anything here, because I have rarely booted Linux during this period. I was using Hardy last days and installed Kubuntu Intrepid last Sunday just as it arrived. I needed to install it FOUR times in vain. The first time, I added the acpi=force arguement (as always) otherwise it won't shut down. Same for the second and third time. But all I got was a message just after GRUB loaded Kubuntu: Unrecognized device String. I tried editing the menu.lst to default using CRUX but no difference. I ran a thread at Ubuntuforums but they couldn't help much so I installed it the fourth time. This time, I booted it up well and installed nothing more that my SpeedTouch 330 modem (as always). And when I boot it up now, the bootsplash freezes and when I press CTRL+ALT+F1, kinit: No resume image, doing normal boot!
And nothing more. I have given up. Should I try Ubuntu 8.10 instead or will it reach the same fate?"When you have nothing to say, say nothing."

Is it possible I revert to Kubuntu Hardy and install KDE 4 from the Live CD I have?
