I want to setup a network in which the main server would be running on ubuntu and the other computers are of different operating systems (Vista, XP, Fedora 10). I Would Like to share an internet connection from UBUNTU to other computers and if possible setup a file sharing network.
The Main Things to Notice :
1. Main Server Would Be Running on Ubuntu
2. Want to Share Internet Connection ( and if possible File Sharing Also)
3. Would Like to restrict viewing of some sites as i am setting up the network at a school.

If you are going to share files between Windows and Linux, then you need to look into a service called SAMBA. To block websites, you can run a proxy server like squid (or tinker with the /etc/hosts file on your Ubuntu server). The Ubuntu Server Guide may help you achieve your goals.
