    oh the sound card i have is a creative sound blaster xfi

    There is only a beta driver, not supported by anyone. Creative announced they were abandoning Linux drivers for the x-fi series after the Vista drivers took MUCH longer to develop. Here is a link for beta, not stable, and again, not supported

    Edit: Just a bit more information. Creative handed over some development files to alsa project but limited how much they would open their source to them. Because of this ALSA has accepted the project and has started development but the work has been slow because of limited persons, limited information from Creative and a whole new architecture in the x-fi series. Lastly, you won't see EAX support or THX support on this card, probably ever, in Linux because Creative does a miserable job helping out the community

    yeah as I said, not supported at all...you're not going to find much help to get it to work (sorry)
