    Unhappy Problems With Ubuntu

I just bought a new computer and installed ubuntu. After the installation, everything worked fine with an exception for two things. When I open firefox and go to any page other than the default homepage, the page loads up then instantly the screen fades and the system restarts. The other problem is the exact same but it happens when i try to configure the login screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What does this computer have for RAM? Could be out of memory, insufficient swap, hard drive failure, bad RAM. I hope it's an install issue, considering you claim the computer is new, but I'm going to entertain the RAM first.

First thing is to test the memory, just because it's the fastest. Next time you reboot, you should have an option in grub to test your memory, run it. If not, there is on the boot CD. Allow at least one pass. If no lines go red, I'll try something else.
