    Ubuntu for Slow Laptop

    Dear All,
I have a desktop and a laptop. Problem is that the Laptop is P IV, 2.4, 40 GB HDD, DVD RW and the RAM in it is only 192 MB. So can anyone suggest which LINUX should I use out there, so that I can take out max juice out of it. I loaded SuSe linux on it but have been disappointed. I use Ubuntu 8.10 on desktop and that is pretty good for sure I must say.... Additionally, since the Laptop is now 5 years old, it gets hot, makes some noise and is very very slow (cruelly slow actually with Windows XP on it earlier)

Check this Poll on Distros for Old machine. If you prefer Ubuntu only then go for Xubuntu. It has Xfce desktop environment instead of Gnome and it will work fine on your machine.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
