    need help with new computer

Got a new Dell Mini 9, came with Ubuntu, no Windows. Ordered ATT dsl, have the modem, tried to connect, wasn't able. Called ATT Tech support, was told I had to have Windows. I have never used Linux before, but I have started learning. I know I can connect to the Internet, because I was able to sign on using a wifi signal. Can anyone give me very simple directions on how to set this up? Or if this question has been answered on the forum before, direct me to where? I am very technologically challanged, so the simpler the better!!

    I have the same problem

I don't want to hijack the thread. I just want to let you know that I have been working on the same problem. If I can ever solve it, I will let you know.

I have been unable to get my Mini 9 with Ubuntu online at all. I have successfully configured network properties on my desktop with Ubuntu, Dreamlinux, and Puppy Linux. But for some reason, I have been unsuccessful at a wired connection on the Mini 9. I have even been unable to configure Puppy Linux for a wired connection on the Mini 9. I am waiting for an external optical drive to arrive at my house to reinstall Ubuntu and try again. Otherwise, I plan on sending the Mini 9 back to Dell for repair. Unless someone here can give a solution. I have searched every Wiki and forum that I have found for an answer to this, without success. Also, don't bother calling the main support line for Dell. You have to use the numbers at Products/Client - DellLinuxWiki. I will be watching to see if you get this fixed. If I beat you to it, I will let you know.

    Thanks,
    Greg

It's definitely possible as I did it for my mom on her computer without Windows, I actually got quite frustrated on the phone as they were telling me it wasn't possible and I was able to do it.

How do I register a username and password for my new account? Ameritech - SBC FAQ - dslreports.com

I believe those are the instructions. You can also call them and ask them how they set it up without a cd rom - tell them you have windows but no cd-rom drive (there is a protocol that uses internet only).

But try those directions first, I believe they'll work
    Bodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17
Dell Studio 17, Intel Graphics card, 4 gigs of RAM, E17
