Question brother 420cn setup in ubuntu

I had the brother printer functioning including the scanner in Ubuntu 8.04 (Heron) and Im fairly sure I archived all the necessary drivers on a usb disk, I had to rebuild the system ,however, due to an inexplicable crash trying to upgrade to 8.10 , and I cant get the printer functioning again, I know that there are steps that have to be taken in the right order (as in installing the cupswrapper first I believe) but I cant remember where I got the rest of the procedure, just wondered if anyone might have a suggestion

    Cool thanks

the site provided step by step instructions which worked the first time, it seemed to me the first time that the instructions at the brother site were a little convoluted ...many thanks
