Compiz config

Hello,
I installed ubuntu 8.10 in my Vaio VGN CR220E, the card is Intel GM965 and also when I tried
:~$ compiz --replace

I got
Checking for Xgl: not present.
No whitelisted driver found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity


Can somebody help me please.

From a quick search it looks like this is a bug. I read a bunch of forums that said the same stuff and all fixes seemed to be incomplete

I saw in some forums that I need to install "xserver-xgl" but it does not exist, also I did this :

~$ echo SKIP_CHECKS=no > .config/compiz/compiz-manager

But did not work either.

You can try downloading Ultimate edition 2.0 it's e ubuntu 8.10 based distribution buth all compiz and emerald packages ar standard installed and working i hade now problems with this even on PC with 128mb video card (old)

What is ultimate edition 2.0? where can i get it? sorry to be so fool but I'm new using linux

You can find it here.
Note that there is also the "Gamers Edition" of Ubuntu Ultimate 2.0 in the same url.
It has all software included in Ultimate Edition 2.0 (x86) plus many games.

I downloaded UE but I do not know what it is? is another OS? like other version of ubuntu? or is like another version of compiz? can somebody explain it to me.

it turns on intripid ubuntu 8.10 buth there is mutch more standard present like compiz icon with this you configure compiz and emerald theme manager and e lot more so you can say that Ultimate Edition 2.1 or 2.0 is ubuntu buth more advanced it's also bigger so you need e dvd to burn your iso on and than you install it like you do with ubuntu. I tested e lot of distro's and this one blows my mind try it you wont bi disappointed.
