I'm a slackhead cuz, but glade is a gtk widget making tool.
    Why don't you do a
find / | grep apt-listchanges > scratch; grep glade scratch
. If you find the errant file I think glade has a $PATH string in it's environmental variables, probably in the config file. Add your discovery and the thing will shut up.

Thanks Dijetlo for helping me find the file. It is in:
    usr/share/apt-listchanges/apt-listchanges.glade

below is the failure notice in the file:

    Name: Apt Authentication issue
    Priority: High
    Terminal: False
    Command: gksu -- synaptic --non-interactive --update-at-startup --hide-main-window
    GettextDomain: apt
Description: Problem during package list update.
The package list update failed with a authentication failure.
This usually happens behind a network proxy server. Please try
to click on the "Run this action now" button to correct the problem or
update the list manually by running Update Manager and clicking
    on "Check".

I'm going to try to figure this out.

    Ubuntu has buttons!?!?!?

Cuz, we just got desktops a couple of versions ago...before that if somebody asked you if slackware had a desktop you told them yeah, it's what the monitor sits on while you type. It had colors too, black and white (both of em).
Linux has come a long way in a short time.

If there is a ' run this action now' button, in Ubuntu, I do not know where it is. What I am doing now is pasting the above mentioned command into the terminal, which does a check; and then I put sudo apt-get update into the terminal to get past the problem.
