    I use logmein to control remotely some computers, xp computers, now I installed Ubuntu 8.10 in my box, is there a way to control my linux box remotely, like logmein.

    Ubuntu comes with that stuff preinstalled. If you go to system->preferences->remote desktop you can enable it. That way isn't secure but I've used it often, just need to ensure that there are decent passwords on all the comps you are accessing.

    If you want to get a bit more advanced you can use VNC.

    Terminal

    sudo apt-get install xvnc4viewer

    then you can vnc to any computer that has a vnc client running but running this in terminal

    vncviewer IPADDRESS

    ip address is the external IP if it's off of your network, to get this visit this site:
    External IP Address

    remember you need to port forward any computer connected to a router
