Downloaded a program with Synaptic uh now what?
I downloaded a program with Synaptic with all dependencies. Can't seem to find it to run it. I searched for it in Adept but it isn't there. 2 part questiion ...where is it (it says it was successfully downloaded in Synaptic) and #2 how do I run it when I find it. Oh did I say I was new at this ...so be gentle

Occasionally, some apps won't show in the menu until you restart X, while certain other apps are not meant to show up in the menu at all. Most apps will show in the menu right after Synaptic finishes up with installing them.

The best way (in my opinion) to run TestDisk is by running it directly from a LiveCD, such as Parted Magic.

I have done the iso image thing with parted magic ... how do I run the thing

If you've burned the ISO file to the disk correctly, put the disk in your CD/DVD drive, set your machine to boot from the CD/DVD drive, then reboot.
Your machine should boot from the Parted Magic LiveCD and you can run TestDisk from there.oz
