Basically I've attempted to find the networks which I know are there and I continue to recieve the message
~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
pan0 no wireless extensions.
iwlist scan
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.
eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
pan0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

Ore wirreless card is not installed find out witch card you have than search for e solution with ubuntu.
e athor solution is using ndiswrapper to make it easy download the ultimate edition 2.0 distro (is based on ubuntu 8.10) but ndiswrapper is installed standard you don't need internet than search for your windows driver for you wifi and install this with ndiswrapper (xxxx.inf) this is how your windows driver choud look like)
