    I usually do,
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
then we need to close all the browsers open and restart them. It has always worked for me.

Or you can do one thing. Instead of installing from Ubuntu repos, try downloading and installing from Adobe's site itself. The following link has clear instructions on how to do it.

    Installing Flash on Ubuntu

    Good luck in any case.

Are you using 64bit version of Ubuntu? Post the output of uname -a command here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I solved the problem. Problem was with Firefox 3 which comes with Ubuntu. It was not even getting uninstalled from synaptic manager. So I just deleted the folders of firefox. Downloaded the latest version from Mozilla.com and installed. Its running perfectly with adobe flash-plugin.

Now can somebody tell me how can I create shortcut in the menu for Newly Installed Firefox?

    Press Alt+F2 and type this
    Code:
    alacarte
Create a new entry and add path of firefox.
I don't know if alacarte is pre-installed or not. Install it through Synaptic if its not available.

Since I am not as comfortable with the command line, I'll pose another way of adding the menu item.
Go to 'System > Preferences > Main Menu'. You will be able to highlight the area of the menu where you want the new entry (in the left frame). Then there is a choice for 'New Item" (on the right side). Enter the path and comments, and you're done.
