    Devices on Install

Hi. I'm brand new to Linux and I'm trying to install Ubuntu to complete my XP/Vista/Ubuntu triple boot.

When I try to run the demo to see if I like Ubuntu, I get to the black terminal screen and it says it is trying to assign addresses to some of my devices. It tries many USB ports where I have flash drives, but then it also tries to recognize my ATA hard drive and something else. Is there a way I can continue in install without having to unplug all of these unrecognized devices?

The live CD should eventually boot even with a bunch of flash drives plugged in. though it may take a while. If it freezes, there's another issue.

When going to install though, there should be no external drives plugged in at all (peripheral devices should be plugged in) so that Ubuntu is not confused where and how to install. Having multiple removable drives plugged in during the install can lend itself to mount or grub (bootloader) errors after the fact.
