    Can't see shared folder on XP ?

    Hi, I just shared folder using samba, on Ubuntu I can see this there place>network>windows network>workgroup>ubuntu>" my shared folder" , but I can't see on my XP ,on XP I go My netwrok places>WORKGROUP and there I should see my shared PC n folder, but there's nothing... Where's the problem ? thnx for answers

    Samba is pretty particular about who it shows what. If the user name you are logged in as in Windows doesn't match a defined user in Samba, it'll likely display nothing.

    There are some options to deal with this, including adding a user in Samba, setting the security model to "Share", or defining guest okay in globals (these last two are security hazards in business environments, but are good in home user ones).

    In the end, there's no substitute to doing a lot of reading in the Samba docs.
