    Graphic/boot problems i think

Hello, This is my first post and my 100% new to Linux. I installed Ubuntu (the newest verson) 10.0.7.24 i think is the verson to me more prisise. Well here is my problem. I made the live CD, all ok. I booted up with the CD. That went not too well, and had to sett it on Safe Graphic Mode to me enable to boot up. I installed Ubuntu. After that i rebooted. Dident need to set it to safe graphic this time. Made all the updates and now i rebooted again. Then when i booted now, i was going to install the ATI/AMD driver that poped up from hardware drivers. I downloaded it and installed it. It requested and reboot no problem about that. Then when i boot up again. I can see the progress bar, after that is at 100% it wont go to the logon screen. Its more like im ending up in a terminal and it ask's me to logon :S

I have no idé what to do in here, i was told to use somekinda guide to fix this, and i understand it. but my problem now is How? do i get onto my OS. how to get into my desktop and not in this terminal? :S there aint any option to make it run in Safe Graphic Mode.

Just use your user name and password to log in, When you get a bash prompt type:
X or startx and it will probably start right back up. If it doesn't, post back.
Don't fear the cli (the terminal), it can be your best friend.
