    I,m running ubuntu 8.10. I tried to set the cube up, but now after I log in the whole screen goes dark, if I try to click on the menus at the top , they drop down as blank black boxes, where do I go from here

    Hi and Welcome !

    Which Graphics Card do you have? Have you installed its driver? Press Alt+Ctrl+F1 and login there. Execute this

    sudo lspci | grep -i vga
grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Post output here.
