    Unhappy New User from Windows

    Hi,
    I've just purchased a disk from thelinuxshop with 'gOS Linux' on it. If I put it into my CD-Drive and turn on the system begins to set itself up but after telling me that it does not recognise my Standard VGA it halts at
    * Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local)
    I have left it for nearly an hour but nothing else happens. Does anyone know what I should be doing to get it to load?

    What kind of video chipset do you run?
    What kind of Monitor are you using?
    Since the machine wont boot up, You wont be able to pull diags off of it, we probably need to start with hardware compiance.

    I also think the problems are in the chipset, but since that's not my cup of tea I'm afraid I can only say that I personally think you should move the thread to the "newbie" or "other distributions" section.

    Thank you for your interest. I am running Diamond A70 graphics software and I have a Proview 570 Monitor.
