Hello and Welcome to Linuxforums.
You have an Atheros chipset, which should work very well. You even have the correct modules being loaded for it.
Have you tried using the Ubuntu network tool, I believe it's called Network Manager, to create a new connection? Is the device not listed there?ath_pci 99096 0
wlan 211952 1 ath_pci
ath_hal 198864 1 ath_pci
Please open a terminal window and post the output of these commands too.
Code:sudo ifconfig
Code:sudo iwconfig

I dont see the device listing on the network manager. Heres what I get from the commands:
sudo ifconfig

iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
pan0 no wireless extensions.

hmmm, I have a problem like this too and I a using Gentoo.
My solution is to use modprobe
modprobe -r ath_pci
modprobe ath_pci
you need to repeat this several times until you see several blank lines scroll by, I do not know why this works but it does for me. After you see the several blan lines scroll by then use the ifconfig command again and you should see the device now.
If you do see the device list in the above output then you need to go into network manager and set up the device normally as you would in windows.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

I've been using the ath5k module very nicely for some time. You might want to give that a shot.
