PPTPD around block port 1723
Hi all!
I hope someone is able to help me with a problem i have with using PPTPD VPN from remote location.
I am running Ubuntu Server, using PPTPD for VPN, it works perfect from work and elsewhere. My problem is i am student at ITT tech, and there they have blocked the port 1723 outbound... now, this is a problem obviously, but I know there are a number of unblocked outbound ports available.
If i could somehow redirect the VPN traffic locally on my client (laptop at schoot) to use a different port... say port 8002 BEFORE it leaves the laptop then i can redirect port 8002 in my router at the server site to go back to 1723.
I hope i have explained it in understandable and logical fashion.
here is my configuration:
Laptop Client -- > ITT-Tech ---> Firewall.Router (port 1723 blocked) ---> Internet ---> Router/firewall (port 1723 forwarded) ---> PPTP Server.
this must be possible. any ideas?

It depends on whether the client software on your
laptop can be configured to use a different port.
The router at the other end should be easy.

Yes, unfortunately there is no user definable port for PPTPD as you would commonly find in whatever service .conf file. It is set at 1723.It depends on whether the client software on your
laptop can be configured to use a different port.
The router at the other end should be easy.
Now, that in mind... the easy fix is not available..... however, there must be a way to achieve this via iptables or some other method.
I dont have the experience in linux at this point to know how to accomplish my task.
