video (totem movie player, kaffeine etc.) problem solved

It took a while for me to figure this out (i'm pretty tech-illiterate) so i'll post it here in case it helps others.

Sometimes all my video players (kaffeine, mplayer, totem movie player, VLC) will play a video extremely slowly (slow play, slow playback) or with a stutter. The problem turned out to be pulseaudio. The solution was to go to System-Aministration-System monitor and force quit any video players as well as pulseaudio.
