    Question ubuntu installation troubles

    hi i had a pc running xp and it recently crashed so i wiped the drive then tried installing ubuntu. it starts installing then gets the error

    [ 993.031406] Buffer I/O error on device sda, logical block 0

    then it stops. Can anyone help me??

    Might have something to do with why XP crashed.

    Format the hard drive partition and write check for errors (mkfs.ext3 -c -c /dev/hda1). I'm willing to bet there will be errors discovered indicating imminent hard drive failure.
