    unable to update clamav

OS is Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Dual boot with XP.
I have just installed clamav-freshclam etc; but cannot
update signatures. When first opened I got attachment (1) which I have no idea about. Secondly on attempting update I get attachment (2)
Any help with this is appreciated.

From the latest ClamAV mirror report:
    129 sites in 45 regions
    1 bad -- 17 older than 18 hours -- 12 unreachable for more than 7 hours
last probes : 117 were ok, 9 had no time, 3 had site not found
My guess is you got redirected to a bad mirror. See if you have the same problem now running freshclam.

Thanks for your reply D-cat, the bad mirrors seem to be a permanent feature.
I had tried freshclam but still no joy.
I remember that within 'clamtk' on the 'Help' tab /System information,
you would see the total signatures, but as can be seen from the attachment there are none?
    regards

It looks to me that current.cvd.clamav.net is off the air. I did a simple nslookup from here and it came up "No Answer."

I've read a suggestion that sudo chmod 644 /etc/resolv.conf might help if it's a permissions issue, but I'm skeptical right now noting the above DNS lookup failure.

Thanks D-cat, I think that current.cvd.clamav.net may be a problem.
I think it may be a case of goodbye clamav.
Of course there may be a ubuntu repository problem?
Good job it's not Windows eh!
regards and thanks for your time.
