    installing xp over ubuntu?

I installed ubuntu a couple of weeks ago, but i decided I want to mess around with partition sizes, and dual boot with XP. I have a Windows XP disk and CD key, but when I go to boot from it, it starts the regular install, and then hangs up and says that my computer encountered an error, and i should check for faulty hard drives and other stuff. i've heard the grub loader could cause this.
don't worry, im going to re-install ubutnu after, I just want to wipe everything and start out again. with XP first. So, what can I do to install XP over Ubutnu?

    Hello sHooks, good morning.

Do you want to dual boot with WinXP?

    Take care and God bless.

If you want to wipe the hard drive clean first, you can do that from Ubuntu's live CD boot, just open a terminal and type

    sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M

When you get your prompt back, your hard drive will be absolutely cleared off, blank slate.

    Hello sHooks, good morning.

Try to boot from the CD and delete the partitions and create again for your Windows and Ubuntu using Windows XP installer.

    Take care and God bless.

It can take a long time, from several minutes to over an hour, depending on how big the drive is.

I would pop in a live CD and repartition the drives how you like that way. News
