Why do i get the message " wrong architecture i386' when i try to install a program ?

What are you trying to install and where are you installing the program from? It seems like you're running a 64 bit system and trying to install something that doesn't support 64 bit architecture. Most 32 bit programs can be run in a 64 bit environment with the correct libraries though.

wrong artitecture
than you. I am trying to download wxtoimg from the download site. I says it is suitable for linux. Being new to Linux i am struggling.
any help wud be welcome

Did you download the tar.gz 64bit version as it sounds like you are trying to install 64bit software on a 32bit os. I would try downloading .deb version as that *should* install on 32bit and 64bit Ubuntu
