Hi jakebros1 and welcome to the forums!

When moving from Windows to Linux, many of us wanted to believe we could continue where we left off with Windows with the help of wine and would be able to run all of our favourite Windows programs. The truth is, wine is still very imperfect in this respect. They have made tremendous strides in enabling many Windows programs to run satisfactorily under Linux but there are many that will run poorly if at all. My advise would be to look around some of the Wine sites and see if you can find any info on if and how your particular game runs under wine.WineHQ and FranksCorner are two good places to start. Good luck.

I think in Ubuntu, you just use the file browser and go to where the file is. Right click on the file and choose "wine" as the program to open it. From the command line, open gnome-terminal and do:
    Code:
    wine Desktop/IEN_S4_(FULL)_Rev1.exe
Given what you've said, I think that would be the method to install it. For running it after installation:
    Code:
    ls /home/sheryl/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/
Find the correct directory where it was installed. As an example, let's say your game was installed to "IEN_S4_(FULL)_Rev1." You'd do something line:
    Code:
    cd /home/sheryl/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/IEN_S4_(FULL)_Rev1
    Then:
    Code:
    wine IEN_S4_(FULL)_Rev1.exe
The links I gave you will explain all of this in detail. Please take the time to read through them. Good luck.

    Hello , good evening.

I agree what Dapper Dan said. Wine doesn't support all softwares in this world. Just like anti-virus in Windows, there's no best or perfect antivirus because there are lots of programmers out there making malwares to destroy systems and antivirus companies can't make codes for removal.

    Back to the topic:
Just right-click the setup.exe of a game then select Open with "WINE".

You can visit the site as well of WINE to check if the games that you are going to install is painless or not. Click the "AppDB" link and look for the games that you got there if it will work smoothly or not.

    Take care and God bless.

You can check the state of play of itunes from the wine database of applications found at winehq. As an aside, if you are looking for a media player that works just like itunes - heck it even looks like itunes - with added features then try songbird. A quick google of 'songbird ubuntu' should set you on your way. It really is an excellent bit of software. And yes, I once thought that wine was some sort of omnipotent good guy too! But they have really made great inroads and have been going now for 15 years, so hats off to them.

If you are looking to play windows games on linux then try:

Home - PlayOnLinux - Play On Linux easily

and also there is a subscription based service called Cedega which provide very highly tuned versions of wine, tailored to each individual game they support. You can search their database, and also search their forums, but only paid up members are allowed to post on their forums. Also you will find that for games and linux, an ati card is going to let you down. Their catalyst driver for linux is widely held in some contempt - arch linux even dropped it from their repositories. The new 9.3 catalyst driver is at least going to work with the fancy 3d effects a whole lot better. If that translates into improved 3D acceleration across the board, well I have to suck it and see. If you use an nvidea card, then the Gods of Linux gaming are smiling upon you. Of course, I switch to linux and find this out AFTER I purchased an ATI HD4870...ah well, I suppose God just hates a show-off....
