Hello all
i am running ubuntu 8.10
i am unable to update from the update manager.
when i try i get an error message that says failed to fetch than it gives the repository address and than says hash sum mis match. i have tryed a couple of apt get fixes i found in the ubuntu forums and i was able to get some updates but still nothing from the update manager.
that also keeps me from adding any software.
is anyone else having this issue with 8.10. i dont know if it is my modem or if it is the repository servers.
let me know if any of you are haveing the same problem and of coarse if there is a solution feel free to let me know.
thanks, george

What fixes have you tried?
I would try a different server. Look here for how: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

yeah i have tried that.
i also have done a couple apt-get and apt-update fixes they work a little,
i found one a couple days ago but i cant remember the commandk.
i finally found where the updates are stored on my machine so i will install what i have tonight, and let you know if that fixes it.
there are a few people going through the same thing, and i turned it in as a bug, but i am sure the fixers are really busy so i need to be patient.

This happens to me pretty regularly. I change my repositories every couple of weeks. The easiest way to do this is just go to your "Software Sources" app in the System menu and choose "Server" then "Select Best Server." It will run some tests on response time and come back with a mostly random new repository that's the quickest of the bunch. That usually resolves the hash sum mismatch.
