[SOLVED] bootup fine but install program freeze

My Ubuntu install cd will boot up just fine, but every time I go to the install program, it freezes as soon as the first graphical screen tries to load.

I'm doing this on a 1.6ghz celeron processor with 256mb of ram, so I seriously doubt its a resource issue. Though I guess I could have a slow cd drive or something

When it first boots up, I also get an error message, something to the extent of "buffer i/o error, sr0 *addresses*" But it still boots fine.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Oh, and I did burn another copy of the iso, and I checked to make sure it was okay using that option upon bootup, and it checked out

Theres not just a one problem.
    1. Burn CD at medium speeds, It may have defects. verfiy the installation media
    2. Verify the dowloaded image.
    3. Your PC specs arent good for Ubuntu Live boot. and not recommanded for Live Boot+ Install - Try a Alternate CD instead of Desktop CD
    4. However GNOME will be bit havier for your system. so try out Distro based on XFCE. e.g. Xubuntu / Zenwalk / Dreamlinux
    Never make any misteaks.

Thanks. I got the install to work with the safe graphics mode option, but I just burned a copy of Xubuntu and intend to use it. I'm not a big fan of GNOME anyway.

Now onto figuring out some screen resolution problems. Another post, another night. XD
