    Backtrack 4 ntfs-3g?

I just installed Backtrack 4 less than 2 days ago and I am a bit of a n00b to linux. I wanted to run some windows apps with wine so I followed the instructions at HOWTO: NTFS with read/write support using ntfs-3g (easy method) - Ubuntu Forums all the way to step 4, only thing I accidently did Automatic and Manual installation, then when I rebooted everything seemed fine until I ran startx. The splash screen did not run and I got a gray screen with some utilities, that is all; however, I can reach the terminal. By the way I set up the fstab and everything, /dev/sda2 / reiserfs defaults etc... with the /dev/sda1 instructions on the page. Anyway, I decided to reboot and try again, now I get a bunch of errors saying /var/lib etc... is read only and the only way I can run startx is by typing in mount -o remount, -rw /dev/sda4 / .... and even then I still cant get past the gray screen. What did I do and how do I fix it... I tried taking out the /dev/sda1 line in fstab and reboot... still nothing.

btw, when I boot I dont see /dev/sda4 or sda1 mounted with mount command.

    Hi and Welcome !

Post the contents of /etc/fstab file here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
