i hear people talk about playing them in Firefox but i have no idea in the slightest how to do that. all i know is that i got the Firefox add-on download helper, then i download the files from youtube into my videos folder then i play them with the built in movie player that comes with Ubuntu.

basically what im trying to achieve is download swf files from newgrounds.com then be able to play them offline.

if i can do that I'll be well off, but I'm gonna need some seriously simpleton type instructions

To watch Flash in Firefox all you need to do is open Terminal. Make sure you are connected to the internet.

    Applications>Accessories>Terminal

Copy and paste this command into it

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
    Hit Enter
Type in your password. It won't show anything when you type in your password. Its a safety feature.
    Hit enter again.

Let Terminal do it's thing and when done close Terminal then open up Firefox and click on a video.

    Hope that's simple enough.

To get codecs for DVD or Downloaded Video, You need to follow the instructions for your distro in this link here. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
