[8.10] Connecting to a network help!
Ok. I am running UBUNTU 8.10. I have a zoom 4410B wireless dongle plugged into a usb port. The usb deffinatly works. I have installed the ndiswrapper and when I go to windows wireless drivers it says the hardware is present.
SO I want to know how do I connect to our existing network! I have no internet connection on the computer but via other means I have a tar.gz wifi radar file in the home folder.
If anyone can help me install the wifi radar from the file then I can do that
(the connection was made by xp)
Router: AR-7084gA Edimax wireless router.
Here are some info that I have gathered:

Hmmm, "Personal Area Networking" is usually associated with bluetooth, but I'll go with it.
Try iwconfig and iwlist pan0 scanning

Please read this post, and provide the info it tells how to find.
Wireless Setup - Start Here
Since this is a USB device, we don't need the lspci output (again).Paul
Please do not send Private Messages to me with requests for help. I will not reply.

Layout according to you link...
I went to that thread and I have copies of all them now
The only one that isn't there is [dmesg | grep firmware]. But all the relevant ones are listed below:

I have just read what I have posted and I noticed this:
Could this be the problem. I found it in the very first code box...Code:[ 49.364204] ndiswrapper (load_sys_files:206): couldn't prepare driver 'wlanuzgv32' [ 49.444976] ndiswrapper (load_wrap_driver:108): couldn't load driver wlanuzgv32; check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver'

I TRIED INSTALLING ANOTHER DRIVER> I NOW HAVE " DRIVERS INSTALLED AND IT WORKS

IF ANYONE WITH A ZOOM WIRELESS DONGLE I CAN TELL U WHICH DRIVERS TO INSTALL LOL
THATS made my day
Thanks for all the help!

There are a lot od "unknown symbol" errors prior to that message. I would suspect that those relate to the cause of the problem. Either it doesn't like the driver that you gave it, or NDISwrapper isn't installed correctly. Did you install it from source?
You need to use a WinXP specific driver for NDISwrapper. A Vista driver is no good. If you are using a combo Vista/WinXP driver, that may not be any good.
Could you run one more command? it will give more detailed info.
Edit: You posted while I was posting. What is the name of the driver that NDISwrapper is using? Use this command:Code:sudo lsusb -v
Code:ndiswrapper -l
Paul
Please do not send Private Messages to me with requests for help. I will not reply.

Well it all seems sorted now... I installed the ndis thing from the liveCD and I installed two drivers... I think one was vista but still, IT WORKS
