Jaunty, 16gb SDHC card not detected.
Hi,
Problem. After installing the most recent version of Jaunty 9.04 on my Dell Mini 9 my 16gb SDHC card is not detected when inserted. A 2 gb card I have works fine.
Prior to this the 16gb card and card reader worked fine with Intrepid 8.10. 16gb card still works fine in my other computers. Tried formatting it, no change.
The 9.04 install was not an upgrade. I totally wiped out hard drive and started fresh. So far I've done it twice. Still does not recognize 16gb card.
Any help appreciated. Searched for awhile online but can't seem to find an answer to this problem.
Otherwise 9.04 works great on the Dell Mini. Much improved battery life.
Thank you.

I don't run a mini 9 or Ubuntu 9.04 but I figured I'd ask any hows. Besides, Howdy and Welcome to LFO Francis. Did you install the i386 version or the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 9.04? The reason I ask is because of this blog.
Ubuntu on the Dell Mini 9: Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope Beta on the Mini 9
It states here
Also did you install thisCard Reader
Worked out of the box. Secure Digital (SD) & SDHC (High Capacity), MultiMediaCard (MMC) and Memory Stick all worked.
Like I said, I don't run a dell mini 9 or Ubuntu 9.04. Just trying to steer you to some good info maybe. Check out the whole blog since this guy is pretty aquainted with your hardware and distro. Happy Trails and Welcome again.Ubuntu Netbook Remix
Installing Ubuntu Netbook Remix used to require a little bit of work and extra know-how. In Jaunty, the Netbook Remix packages have been added to the official Ubuntu repositories and the included ubuntu-netbook-remix-default-settings package configures everything for you.
To install Ubuntu Netbook Remix
in a terminal type:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-netbook-remix
Note: The desktop switcher program is still slightly buggy. It has a tendency to crash when switching back from the normal desktop to Netbook Remix.Linux Registered User # 475019

Thanks for the reply and thank you for the welcome to the forum.
I had already checked out that site. Did not install Netbook Remix. Had tried it previously on Intrepid and did not really care for it. I can see why people would like it, but it is not for me.
As far as my problem, goes still haven't found a solution.
Strange thing is when I swap out the SSD in the mini and replace it with the original one, which I had installed Intrepid on prior to replacing it, the 16gb SD card works fine.
The newer SSD also had Intrepid installed on it prior to Jaunty and the card reader worked fine with it also.
Possibly once more people start installing Jaunty at the end of the month my problem will become more common and a solution will be found.
Thanks again.

Here ya go!
Don't know if you've found a fix yet or not or if you are even still looking. I was about to just put 8.10 back on my machine so I could use my 16GB SDHC Card again until a friend of mine came across this for me:
If you want to see where this is, exactly and the article on it try here:Code:add "options sdhci debug_quirks=1" to "/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf"

Sorry for the spaces in the link, it wouldn't let me post it otherwise.
Hope you check back here to see this! You're welcome!
