Package updates
I am getting the little triange at the top of my desktop with an exclamation point that says new updates are available but a problem is occuring in obtaining them. When I try to get the newest updates, I get the following message in a popup box. I have tried changing the mirror location multiple times to see if it's an outside server issue, and that doesn't seem to fix anything. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Here's the following info I'm getting after going through the Package Manager.
Could not download all repository indexes
The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences is correct.

You've got your repos pointed at the lpia architecture (low-powered intel architecture), which doesn't exist in the normal ubuntu repos. I assume you're using Ubuntu on a netbook. Did you change your repositories around at some point? I'm not too familiar, but it looks like you need to enable the mirror at ports.ubuntu.com. Index of /dists/hardy

I've tried to change it to every other repos that it offers that's in the US. Yes, I'm using a netbook, and this error message happened before I changed the repository the first time, so it must have come this way from Dell. Can you post the exact link for me to copy paste into the http address for the repository please?
Okay, scratch that since I can't type any text into the http field. Here's what I get when I change the http address to the "other" option.:

I did at that, D-Cat.
But now I'll be even more specific. Your sources.list (/etc/apt/sources.list) should look something like this.
Adding repositories in Ubuntu:Code:deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ hardy main restricted universe multiverse deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ hardy-updates main restricted universe multiverse deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ hardy-security main restricted universe multiverse deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ hardy-backports main restricted universe multiverse

Did you read the link I posted for managing repositories in Ubuntu? Under the "Third Party" tab, click add. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Re...20Repositories

I should add you'll need to uncheck the other repos you have enabled, or you'll keep getting errors.

I did. Thanks for the article. However, the link that you told me to use isn't allowing the add button to become un-grayed. It is still unavailable to click on. I am pasting this: Index of /dists/hardy the example says to use deb in front of the http://..... so I did, but no change. Is there something else I should be typing in?
