Automating nvidia-settings Switch
Hi All,
I use nvidia-settings to set up my external monitor when I use it (laptop, usually just use one monitor). I'm wondering if there is a way to automate what I do. Basically all I do is set up twinview, it is nice not having to restart, as soon as I push apply the screen blinks quickly and then the external is up. I also change the resolution of my laptop monitor slightly when I have it up with the external so they match. I want to make two launchers in my graphics section to basically automate for two and then back to one monitor. Any ideas how? I know I can make it copy paste a new xorg back and forth but that requires a restart (or at minimum a logout or a restart of X). Lastly, for nvidia-settings it does not require super user in order to accomplish these things. Thanks all, really appreciate the heplBodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17

I have an idea that involves modifying the start-up script for X so that it uses pdmenu to ask you which configuration you want to use, then makes modifications as necessary prior to starting X. Since this would be done prior to logging on, the menu would be called as root.
How to actually do it however is beyond me (I suck at writing scripts more complicated than olde style batch files). Fairly soon, I expect to have a real server with VMs that I can test my theories on, but right now, you'll have to be your own guinnea pig.
