    Thumbs Up for Linux Mint

For those of you having a little struggle with Ubuntu, like I did, let me turn you on to a really nice distro based on Ubuntu. It is called Linux Mint. The version I have uses the KDE desktop and runs all the Ubuntu packages and, in fact, draws from the Ubuntu repositories. It has excellent help screens that are good for a beginner. I had no problem downloading SMB4K to mount up my local area network nodes and installed an appropriate video card driver without issue at all. I installed Opera, Filezilla, the Open Office database and I'm good to go. I've never gotten a distro working properly this quickly. Check it out if you want Ubuntu with a little extra help and friendliness.

Well, really good for you. Mint and Mint applications are way to go for many newbies.
But what you cant get with mint is release cycle, if you always want something latest, Ubuntu is the best option.
When you will get more experienced with Linux. you will start liking every distro,
    may be slackware <_<
    Never make any misteaks.
