Question [SOLVED] Still need help..... S.O.S...........

Well I had problems running the live CDE for Ubuntu on my old HP Pavillion a622n and it turned out to be the ATI graphics card. It would freeze when the Ubuntu progress bar came up. So I turned the ATI card off in BIOs and had it boot with the on board Intel Graphics card.

It will now load all the way to the login menu and then when it goes to login to the desktop environment it stops loading when the screen turns black and all I see is the mouse arrow.

So I tried it on my newer laptop and it works like a dream so I know it is not the CD. Any thoughts of what the problem could be?
