    Ubuntu and 2 Monitors?

    Hey Guys,

Complete Newbie to Ubuntu and after having to reinstall windows XP 7 times over the weekend because of stupid problems I thought I'd give Linux a shot.

So after spending hours searching the net without any luck on configuring dual monitors I thought I'd ask how its actually done?
In windows xp it automatically detected the display and was ready to go, no such luck with Ubuntu.
I do not know all the specs but here I go:

    Pentium 4, 3.0Ghz processor
    1gb ram
ATI Radeon 9200 MCE /128 bit AGP graphics with 128mb ram

The monitors are a 17inch Compaq FP 7317 which currently works over VGA at 1280x1024
and Im trying to get it to another monitor a 32inch Lcd over S-video.

I had the max resolution on the 32inch lcd at 1024x768 on windows xp.
Should also mention its 1 graphics card but worked fine on windows.

THANKYOU so much for any help. It is completely new to me.

so if you currently have linux running you could just go to the "xorg.conf" and edit it.

here are couple of links that you could visit in order to be able to have dual monitor. either one of them will work for you.
