Ubuntu 8.10 Firefox issues and other stuff
I don't know man... I'm starting to wonder if I wasn't better off with windows. I am having some strange things happen, and I don't know why they are happening.
Here's the first one:
When I open up firefox, it opens up in a maximized mode which covers up my top and bottom panel bars. Of course I googled this, and the advice was to go to Edit > Preferences > and go to the advanced button next to Java Script and uncheck the "allow resizing windows" box.
That did not work however. It still does it.
The second thing is:
On my top panel bar (which I can see when firefox is not open or when I have F11'ed it back to normal) the battery and network manager icons are moved to the center of the top panel and I can't seem to move them back over to the notification area where they belong, next to my name and stuff. What gives?
The third thing is:
Firefox randomly opens in offline mode. I've googled this too, and corrected it. Yet it still randomly opens in offline mode. It's like the lottery.
I'm getting tired of these small annoying issues. If there is anyone with solutions, please to advise me.

Close Firefox and execute this in Terminal :
Start Firefox now.Code:mv .mozilla .mozilla.bak
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

OK. When I reopened it, it was sized correctly, but it was the default FF3. I'll have to redo bookmarks, themes, etc...
What did this do exactly and why did you have me do it?
Thanks.

Some config, extension or theme was creating problems.
.mozilla folder contains bookmarks, themes, extensions, add-on and other configs. If you remove that folder, Firefox generates fresh configs.
You can find all of your bookmarks in .mozilla.bak folder. Its bookmarks.html file. Just click on import bookmarks in Firefox and navigate to bookmarks.html file in .mozilla.bak folder.
I would suggest you to keep a copy bookmarks.html file as a backup.
You can remove .mozilla.bak folder after backing up bookmarks and themes. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
