    Unhappy Ubuntu Sound Volume

I just upgraded to the latest Ubuntu release and somehow the sound system is not working properly. In order to hear any sound at all, I ve got to have the main sound volume at almost 100%. I 've also checked to see whether the application that I m running (eg. Amarok) has it's own volume pumped up too.

How can I fix this? Sound volume was working fine at the earlier Ubuntu release.

    Thanks.

right click on you Volume Control in system tray > Open Volume Control > Raise the Front and PCM sliders to Top.

    you can also do this:

    sudo apt-get install alsamixergui

then in your audio/video section go to alsamixergui and see what things are set at
