Ubuntu Dual Boot error and Linksys Wireless usb adapter driver needed

    Hi all,

Recently I attempted to dual boot my Vista system with Ubuntu 8.10. To cut a long story short Vista did not like it's new partition and somehow made the 200GB of Hard drive space I allocated Ubuntu disappear

I used the Vista partition editor to create the partition for Ubuntu, now this is where I think I went wrong and I should have used GParted instead. I recovered windows with SuperGrub Disk and used a recovery disk to restore to factory.

    I some questions:
1/. What did I do wrong (I would like to know, curious minds and all that )

2/. Can someone help me try and do it properly this time as I would dearly love to get spend less time on Vista.

3/. Does anyone know of a linux driver for a Linksys wireless N usb adapter.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Adam.

Vista Partition editor should not create any problem. Lets check existing partition structure of your Hard disk first.
Boot up from Ubuntu LiveCD, open Terminal and execute this
    Code:
    sudo fdisk -l
    Post output here.

    * Its small L in fdisk -l.

    Code:
3/. Does anyone know of a linux driver for a Linksys wireless N usb adapter.
Check this thread and start new thread in Wireless Internet Forum.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

if you want to install ndiswrapper
    sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

    after it is installed
    ndiswrapper -i driver.inf
ndiswrapper -l to check if it is installed
ndiswrapper -m to load it to the modprobe
post the O/P to see what happens with you.
