[SOLVED] how to install / update firefox

i have firefox 3.0.3 and i installed firefox-3.0.9.tar.gz but i don't know how to install the new firefox ?
shall i just only copy firefox into ~./mozilla???

Extract firefox-3.0.9.tar.gz. Double click on firefox file inside extracted FireFox folder. New version of Firefox will pop.

Which version of Firefox is available in sources?

You are using ubuntu, you can easily upgrade the firefox using apt-get or synaptic.

i wanna the new version to be the default one, so when i hit Firefox from the menu or whereever, it starts the new one,and i have 3.0.3

thnx dude but i am actually now suffering from a bad internet connection and i have more than 200MB of updates lol
so i will do it later

You can create a symlink of new firefox ( inside Extracted firefox folder ) file on Desktop or in Menu.

Or

Upgrade firefox only.

sudo apt-get upgrade  firefox
