BBC iPlayer - nice one...
Went to look at installing the BBC iPlayer today and was trying to follow a guide to installing Internet Explorer 6 through Wine and I was not winning. I thought, damn why not have a look to see what happens when I try to play a program. It works, straight out of the box, well blow me. Now I can't tell if this is just the way of things with Jaunty or if it is due to installing a prog the other day that installs every kind of video and audio codec that you will ever need (as is the nature with me, I can't for the life of me remember which little program that was). Must do a search and remind myself for future reference.
Anyways, I can watch the iPlayer without fault - great... No more trying to use Wine, which I have not had that much success in using. Obviously, I am one of the few that choose programs that do not like running through Wine. Typical.

Yeah, djcrazydiamond, Linux has been well on the way to becoming a useable OS for the average person in the street for a few years. Now if only we can bring all the loose bits together. I still can't play commercial DVDs after spending hours at it two days ago. If more big names would only give Linux the attention they give to the 'Other' Operating Systems I feel sure we would be on the home straight to winning the Best Operating System cup with Ubuntu.
