that was FAST!! Thank you for your prompt reply. I did that, and now I guess I need to reboot?
And speaking of Nautilus, how do I open that from the desktop?...I can only open it by typing "nautilus" in the console.

There is no need to reboot. Doesn't single click work now?
Nautilus is default File Manger. If you open Home or any other folder/location, Nautilus will pop up.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I am sorry to say it did not work. I had another reply explaining to set up mouse behavior under system > preferences > mouse > accesibility. You hold the left button for a moment and it acts as if you double clicked.
Not sure I like that though. I just want to click once and go.
Regardless Thank you for your reply.

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 as well. I am absolutely sure it works great for you. I was merely reporting back to you what my results were, and did not mean to offend in any way or imply I doubted your answer.
It's entirely probable it's my old machine; using limited resources can be a challenge, but always fun.
I sincerely thank you for your reply, then and now.

I was not offended at all. I was trying to make sure that you are selecting correct option.
In case single click not working after select correct option in Nautilus, post the contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf file here.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
