Trying Out Linux In Windows
I have Windows XP Pro SP3 and would like to give Ubuntu or Kubuntu a try. I came across a tutorial on the web that showed me how to use Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 to get Linux up and running on my desktop. However when I'm in the Virtual Machine and tell it to install Linux it runs several lines of code and then sits there, never moving forward. Can anybody recommend other tutorials that might help me get one of these two linux distros installed?

Mulsiphix, I've run XP on Virtual Box and it ran very well. I'd imagine Linux on VirtualBox from XP will run similarly as well since recommended by b2bwild. Seems like I read somewhere recently that Windows 7 will include a virtual machine so users can run XP progs and apps but this particular VM will not run Linux. Is that Virtual PC 2007?

Yes, Its the same Virtual PC 2007, giving a Virtualization Solution on OS of same gerne because of no compatibility only M$ can do that. X_X
However Mulsiphix, Its better to try out linux on VM becasue It wont harm/disturb your sensitive and weak windows, and you can have experience of complete real linux. instead of using colinux kernel.

Yay! It worked with Virtual Box with no problems or hiccups at all. Thank you so much!

And of course Linux gives you many more options on how to try/use it:
- Live CD
- Live USB
- WUBI: You can install Ubuntu/Kubuntu without making a separate partition. During boot, you will be presented with the choice to boot Windows or Ubuntu. And if you want to uninstall Ubuntu, just go to Add/Remove Programs, as you would for any normal application!!

I'm going nuts. This is very different than Windows =). I've worked loosely with Linux previously when I ran a dedicated game server through a telnet session but that was over six years ago and I think it was Debian. Right now I'm playing around with Kubuntu and Ubuntu and for the life of me cannot get these graphics drivers installed so I can get out of this itty bitty 800x600 resolution. Grawr. Alright how to login as root....

The Virtualbox Guest Addons should be installed - this doc may help

and hurry off as if nothing had happened.
