Installed AVG Free, installer details say is in "Utils" , I found utils in File System, but AVG is no where to be found.
can you help an absolute idiot ...

Press alt+F2,
type avggui
Hit enter.
The menu entry should be in applications>accessories>AVG Antivirus,
It may be refreshed after a relog.

sry the new command is avgctl
avgctlcfg for configuration avgupdate for update and avgscan etc.

However AVG fails to start in many cases, open terminal emulator
and type command avgctl see if you can get AVG Control Center

I know I'm a bit late to this party, but are you running a file or email server? If not, there's really no need to run antivirus at all on Linux. You'd only be running it as a courtesy to Windows users. You're basically trading your CPU cycles for their lack of security.

you could also type on the command prompt
and find out what is the correct path. or you could just bootup as a super user, but that error shows that the file avggui doesn't exist.Code:whereis avggui
