Doesn't apt-get remove kubuntu-desktop-kde3 remove all the packages? Which version of Ubuntu are you using?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I actually have Backtrack 4 installed, but when I had some issue with the xinitrc.conf file I just installed the kubuntu over it... and nah, it does not remove all the packages it came with, only removed 45kb of something.

apt-get has been upgraded in latest distros and it removes all packages along with meta-packages.

In your machine, apt-get is removing meta-package only. Which version of Kubuntu are you using?
