Problems opening Google Earth after install...
Hi, This is my first post here or anyway come to think of it.
I am completely new to Linux only installed it yesterday...
I am using Ubuntu 9.04.
I finally got Google Earth to install after reading several forums and it gives an error message when i try and open it which means absolutely nothing to me...
I installed the program in /usr/bin/google-earth which I thought was OK being as all my other programs seem to be in there too (a good start).
But when I go to open the program in applications I get this message coming up
Could not create directory:
/root/.googleearth
I click OK which is my only option and then it tells me:
Could not create directory:
/root/.googleearth/Cache
I click OK again, again my only option which gives me this message:
Google Earth could not write to the current cache or myplaces file location. The values will be set as follows:
My Places Path: "/home/matthew/.googleearth"
Cache Path: "/home/matthew/.googleearth/Cache"
Any help on what is going on here would be very helpful and of course a solution would be great too.
Many thanks in advance...
Matthew.

Hi and Welcome !
Which Graphics Card do you have?
Google Earth package is available in multiverse source of Ubuntu. I would suggest you to install it through Synaptic Package Manager. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
